THE QUITE-CLASSICAL-BUT-NOT-FULLY
This 15-day itinerary is – as its name indicates – quite classical, as it brings you to a good number of the main tourist attractions in Sri Lanka. But since it covers also part of the Eastern Province, it is “not fully classic“, since a large number of travel agencies do not include the Eastern Province in their classical tours. Find the details below:
Day 1: Welcoming of the guests at Bandanaraike International Airport, visit of Pinnawela elephant orphanage, lunch on the way and transfer to Sigiriya. Night in Sigiriya.
Day 2: Climbing of Sigiriya Rock in the morning. After lunch, departure for Dambulla and visit of Dambulla cave temple. Night in Dambulla.
Day 3: In the morning, departure for Matale spice garden, lunch in Matale, then transfer to Kandy, city tour and traditional show of Kandyan dance. Night in Kandy.
Day 4: Visit of the temple of the tooth, shopping in town and visit of Peradeniya botanical gardens. Night in Kandy.
Day 5: In the morning, departure for Nuwara Eliya. Visit of a tea factory and plantation, city tour of Nuwara Eliya. Night in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 6: Departure for Ella, visit of Seetha Amman Temple, evening trekking in the surrounding hills. Night in Ella.
Day 7: Morning break, transfer to Tissamaharama. Evening, visit of Katuragama temple during the offering ceremony. Night in Tissamaharama.
Day 8: Early morning, jeep Safari in Yala national park, transfer to Arugam Bay. Visit of Moneragala’s archeological site on the way. Spotting of wild elephants in Lahugala. Night in Arugam bay.
Day 9: Early morning surf session (optional). Transfer to Batticaloa, visit of Batticaloa’s Dutch fort. Boat ride on the lagoon in the evening. Visit of a Hindu temple festival. Night in Batticaloa.
Day 10: Climbing of Kudumbimalai Rock. Visit of the museum. Lunch in the village. Meeting with the villagers. Observation of wildlife on the way. Transfer to Passikudah. Night in Passikudah.
Days 11-13: Relaxation on Passikudah Beach + local tours on request (bicycle rides, cooking classes, water sports, fishing experience, etc.). Nights in Passikudah.
Day 14: Transfer to Negombo. On the way, visit of Polonnaruwa ancient city. Night in Negombo.
Day 15: Visit of Negombo fish market, city tour and shopping in Colombo. Transfer to Bandanaraike International Airport.
COLOURS OF SRI LANKA
In this tour, we take you around the diversity of cultures and natural wonders of Sri Lanka. Starting under the peaceful Bo tree of Anuradhapura, this itinerary slowly moves to the East and its unspoilt beaches and fishing villages, before bringing you back gently to the tea plantations of the central hills… Nothing more to say except that we love this itinerary!
Day 1: Welcoming of the guests at Bandaranaike International airport. Transfer to Anuradhapura. In the evening, visit of the Sacred Bo Tree and offering ceremony at the Buddhist temple. Night in Anuradhapura.
Day 2: Visit of the ancient city of Anuradhapura. Afternoon: Transfer to Sigiriya. Night in Sigiriya.
Day 3: Morning: Climbing Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Evening: Elephant Safari in Minneriya National Park. Night in Sigiriya.
Day 4: Transfer to Passikudah. Evening: Relaxation on the beach or water sports (sailing, coral watching, snorkelling, etc.). Night in Passikudah.
Day 5: Morning: Climbing Kudumbimalai Rock. Lunch in a family. Evening: Rural village visit. Night in Passikudah.
Day 6: Bicycle ride around Batticaloa: Visit of a bird sanctuary, of organic gardens, of the lighthouse. Offering ceremony in a Hindu temple. Meeting with local Palmyrah craftswomen. Ride along the beach and the lagoon. Night in Batticaloa.
Day 7: Visit to the local market. Cooking class and lunch in a family. Visit of a textile factory (powerloom, handloom). Boat ride with the lagoon fishermen. Night in Batticaloa.
Day 8: Morning: Transfer to Kandy. Lunch in Matale spice garden. Visit of Kandy tooth temple. Evening: Cultural dance performance. Night in Kandy.
Day 9: Morning: Visit of a tea plantation/tea factory. Evening: Visit of Peradeniya Botanical gardens. Night in Kandy.
Day 10: Morning: Kandy city tour and shopping. Evening: Transfer to Negombo. Night in Negombo.
Day 11: Morning: Colombo City tour and shopping. Evening: Relaxation on the beach.
Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport.
